I love crafts of all kinds and went through a big indigo-dyeing phase. Following the Japanese tradition of shibori, I used natural indigo to dye textiles, often reusing and repurposing whatever cotton things I could find at Goodwill. I also taught workshops (because I love getting a crew together around the indigo bucket)!
garden on mars
Garden on Mars is an urban garden project founded by Jeanette Bell. I was her right-hand gal, fundraising and organizing community garden events between 2015-2019. Our mission is to grow fresh food & flowers on vacant lots throughout New Orleans in order to increase access to fresh food, turn blighted lots into beautiful spaces, and empower residents to sell what they grow to local restaurants. We won the 2016 Propeller Pitch competition and were featured in the book Collective Wisdom by Grace Bonney, a wonderful ode to intergenerational female friendships.
