Oh hello there!
I’m the executive director of the Conversationalist, a nonprofit publication rooted in empathy, feminism, and civic care. I’m also a current fellow at the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics, and Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School.
I was previously the director of Vote.gov, empowering people to understand their voting rights in 20 languages and register to vote. Our team won the 2024 Service to the Citizen Award for improving accessibility and equity in voter registration. Dedicated to making public services work better for people, I led teams at 18F to improve systems for SNAP food benefits, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and other government programs.
I started my career in food journalism as a columnist for the Georgetown University newspaper, writing the first review of the salad chain Sweetgreen. I was the managing editor of James Beard Award-winning website Serious Eats, the marketing lead for online grocery marketplace Good Eggs, the first blog editor for kitchenware company OXO, and a recipe tester for The New Orleans Kitchen cookbook.
I believe in the power of elevating women’s voices from a young age, and am on the leadership team of Geaux Girl, a New Orleans-based magazine written by and for teen girls.
